Everyone once in a while, it’s important to do a little shout out! This mouth, I’d love to introduce Speak for Animals, a non-profit operated in Greenville, SC. They started in 2003 by a small group who all shared the passion of providing a voice for animals. They advocate for compassionate and responsible care by saving lives through assisting with low cost spay/neuter options. This became the core and focus of their organization. Additionally, they understood the lack of transportation and financial resources in low income areas, and they began a Spay-Mania outreach program to meet people where they live and offer services.
Their overall mission is to enhance the lives of animals through various means such as low-cost spay and neuter programs, partnerships with dedicate vets, community outreach, humane education, and much more. Through these programs, their volunteers, and dedicated partners, Speak for Animals is able to do big things in the Upstate community!
When Speak for Animals first started, the 29611 zip code had a large number of strays and high numbers of animal neglect. At the time, it was the largest intake zip code at the county open admission shelter! Due to the hard work, determination, and focus on this group, the 29611 zip code is no longer the highest intake zip code in the Upstate!
Seeing companies like this are the reason the Upstate is a better place for ALL of us. Even if Speak for Animals doesn’t feel like they’re the best fit for the situation, they will try to help find the best resources or recommend that surrendering an animal to a shelter/rescue group may be the best option.
